AnnaJyoti lets you delete your account and personal data at any time — whether or not the app is still installed on your device. This page describes both methods, exactly what gets removed, what may be retained, and how long it takes.
Method 1 — Delete in-app
📱 Steps
- Open the AnnaJyoti app and log in to your account.
- Go to Profile → Settings.
- Tap Account → Delete My Account.
- Confirm by entering your password (or re-authenticating with Google Sign-In).
- Tap Permanently Delete.
Your account is deactivated immediately and queued for permanent deletion.
Method 2 — Request deletion without the app

If you've uninstalled the app or can't sign in, email us from the address linked to your account:
Subject line: Account Deletion Request
Include: the name/email/phone number registered on your account, and (optionally) your reason for leaving.

What may be retained (and why)

| Aggregated, de-identified impact statistics (e.g. total meals saved) | These no longer identify you and are kept to preserve platform-wide impact reporting. |
| Transaction/donation records required for NGO audits or legal/tax compliance | Retained only as long as legally required, then deleted. |
| Records needed to investigate fraud, abuse, or policy violations | Retained for a limited period to protect the safety of other users. |
Timeline
Account deactivation is immediate. Full deletion of personal data from our production systems and backups is completed within 30 days of a verified request. You will receive a confirmation email once deletion is complete.
